We are happy to welcome artist in residence, talented Emily Dumas,
a young artist from Brooklyn, New York.
Emily arrived at Art See Ocean in the beginning of December and she spend her days working full time in her studio since overcoming her jet-lag!
Emily is doing a Scandinavian art tour and will stay with us in Art See Ocean for December and then go to another residence in Odense, Denmark.
Interview with Theresa Lekberg.
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Emily Dumas. I was born and raised in Vermont, and currently reside in Brooklyn, NY. I am an artist who uses creative outlets as mediums to best interact with the world around me. As I discover who I am and what I want to be in this life, it becomes plain to me that my truest happiness and sense of meaning comes when creating.
I plan to go on residency to realize a concept I have been developing for some time. As a young artist who is still unmasking the ways of a professional art career, this focused period of time is invaluable. Not only will I be in environments teeming with international artistic professionals, but the space is cultivated entirely for the discipline and focus required to produce art of meaning.
I envision a large body of work that encompasses many mediums; all of the pieces tied by the motifs, topics and narrative surrounding:
Ancestral Inheritance, Elements of Self, Conception, Time
All of this work culminating with an exhibition."
